St George's Day Celebration

Once a year we come together as a district to celebrate St George's Day and renew our Scout Promises.   

It has been agreed that this year we will move away from the traditional religious format and do something completely different. . . . . . so,  we will meet at opposing ends of the beach, Sandown Castle and Walmer Castle and walk towards each other and all join together at 2nd Deal HQ on Marine Road  (next Walmer paddling pool) for a short Scouts Own and renewal of promises.      

However, this will be a stroll along the beach with a difference, just because we like to be!     We will participate in the districts largest community beach clean and hopefully show the people of Deal, Walmer, Sandwich & District that scouting is all about being part of their community.    

Aquila Explorers will meet at the large car park (left of the toilet block as you face the sea, just along from Walmer Castle) at 11.20am.  We will collect the required equipment from representatives from 2nd Deal Scout Group and begin our walk towards their HQ.  It is envisaged that everyone will come together at 1pm for the renewal of promises and 'Scouts Own' and all will be concluded by 1.30pm.   It is up to you to arrange returning home from here.

You will not need to wear full uniform, only unit scarves . . . . however sensible and appropriate dress for the task would be appreciated.
